Reese Witherspoon has shared a Cruel Intentions throwback photo.

The actress, who is currently appearing in the second season of Big Little Lies, took to Instagram on Thursday (July 11) to share a picture of her and recurring co-star Selma Blair, who she also starred opposite in Legally Blonde.

"Look what I found in a buried time capsule labeled '1999'," Reese wrote.

"Selma Blair and I share so many great memories together, from Cruel Intentions to Legally Blonde she’s always kept me laughing!"

The post comes after Reese and her Big Little Lies co-stars faced questions regarding a recent news story about season 2 director, Andrea Arnold.

Reese, who is an executive producer on the HBO series alongside Nicole Kidman, has been asked by fans on Twitter to explain what she knows about reports that Arnold was pushed off the project in its final stages so that season 1 director Jean Marc Vallee could retain his creative control.

As seen below:

While Reese has stayed quiet on the allegations, HBO itself has responded with a statement.

It reads: "We at HBO and the producers are extremely proud of her work.

"As with any television project, the executive producers work collaboratively on the series and we think the final product speaks for itself."

Big Little Lies airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
