Here's a look at some of the most notable building permits issued in Jacksonville from Aug. 28-Sept. 1.

Blueberry Artisan Bakery to 'spread love, joy and gratitude' in St. Nicholas area

Permits have been approved for a buildout for Blueberry Artisan Bakery at 3247 Beach Blvd., in the St. Nicholas area of Jacksonville.

Its website says it offers more than 45 desserts, including truffles, brittle, pies, cakes, cheesecakes, pastries, Petits Gâteaux Des Entremets, fruit tarts, morning buns, croissants, and pain du chocolat to name just a few.

The permit shows that when finished, the bakery will have 2,971 square feet of enclosed space. The project cost is listed at $409,246 and Emerald C's Development Inc. will handle the buildout.

Baymeadows hotel/motel to apartment conversion in the works

A property located at 8465 Dix Ellis Trail, which Duval County Property Records records show was doing business as Sonestra Es Suites, classified as a hotel/motel, has been issued a permit to convert that property into apartments.

Further details show that 112 'extended-stay' hotel units will be converted to one-bedroom apartments with cosmetic updates, and 56 of those units will be outfitted with washers and dryers. The lobby is also slated for cosmetic updates.

The cost of the hotel-to-apartment conversions is listed as $1,370,016. Peg Construction will handle the work.
