Bound Brook man charged in Talmage Avenue shooting
BOUND BROOK - A 35-year-old Bound Brook man has been arrested in connection with a shooting last month in the area of Talmage Avenue.
Mohamed Hussein has been charged with attempted murder, a first degree crime; possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon with a permit, both second degree crimes and possession of hollow point ammunition, a fourth degree crime, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Bound Brook Police Chief Vito Bet announced.
Hussein is being held at the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
According to Robertson, around 8:48 a.m. Nov. 5, 2021 Bound Brook police received a 911 call about shots fired in the area of Talmage Avenue.
When police responded they spoke to the victim, a borough resident, who said a person wearing a green sweatshirt kicked in his apartment door and began a verbal argument with him. The victim said he exited his home and went to the rear of the building to fight the individual.

Upon walking to the rear of the building, the victim saw the individual with the green sweatshirt raise his arm and heard a shot. The victim was not injured.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit along with detectives from the Bound Brook Police Department responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and identified Hussein as the individual involved in the shooting.
Hussein was taken into custody on Nov. 5 by Bound Brook police.
