On a per-share basis, the Redwood City, California-based company said it had profit of 4 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 36 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 38 cents per share.

The online storage provider posted revenue of $261.5 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $262 million.

For the current quarter ending in January, Box expects its per-share earnings to range from 38 cents to 39 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $262 million to $264 million for the fiscal fourth quarter.

Box expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.42 to $1.43 per share, with revenue expected to be $1.04 billion.

Box shares have dropped 14% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $26.70, a decrease of 5% in the last 12 months.
