Despite the fact that Breaking Bad was pretty much characterised by its numerous horrific deaths – we're still pretty cut up over Hank Schrader's tragic end – one of the show's stars actually wishes his character had died too.

Although Walter White's son Walt Jr was one of the lucky few characters to survive all five seasons, actor RJ Mitte admitted during a Breaking Bad reunion at Comic-Con that he was disappointed not to meet a brutal end.

"Initially, I wanted Walt Jr to have a good death scene," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I thought they were going to kill me off for a second.

"And I thought, 'Walt Jr should be brutally murdered. Pretty much bludgeoned and beaten to death. That'd be a good scene for him.' And then I realised financially it wouldn't be good for me."

Mitte had even decided how it was all going to play out, saying that he wanted Walt Jr (also known as Flynn) to be bumped off by 'The Cousins'.

"I thought, 'There was a home invasion, someone stole the baby, beat Walt Jr to death, and Skyler wasn't there.' Something really bad," he said.

"I was just like, 'That's what we needed,' but I realised that's not what would have been best for the show."

And he wasn't the only one who toyed with the idea of meth king Walt's son being killed as a result of Walt's dangerous job, as creator Vince Gilligan revealed that he too had seriously considered it.

"Early on, I pitched to my writers, I had this idea where Walter Jr gets killed by this nasty guy that Walt is somehow in business with," he said. "And all my writers looked at me like I had completely lost my mind and was the most horrible person who ever lived."

But in perhaps the most shocking news of the week the actor revealed that, despite Walt Jr.'s iconic love of breakfast, he himself isn't much of a fan, saying: "I don't really eat breakfast that often".

We can hear a thousand memes shattering across the world...

Mitte isn't the only Breaking Bad actor who harboured fantasies of a story which never happened, as Bryan Cranston, who played Walt, has revealed that he wanted his character to have an affair with prostitute Wendy.

Although Breaking Bad left our screens five years ago, spin-off Better Call Saul has been keeping us all satisfied with its portrayal of lawyer Saul Goodman – aka Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) – both before and after the events of Breaking Bad.

And Gilligan has revealed that the show is about to move into Breaking Bad territory as Jimmy gets closer and closer to becoming Saul.

"We have a subplot that very squarely gets into Breaking Bad territory and brings us into the world – or at least points us on a path toward the world of Walter White and the territory of Walter White," he said. "I can't wait for folks to see that."

Better Call Saul season four will debut on Netflix on August 6 in the US and August 7 in the UK.
