Captain Marvel trailer: First look at Brie Larson in female-led superhero film

Marvel have unveiled a look at their latest work Captain Marvel, featuring a female superhero.

The first trailer of the eagerly-anticipated film debuted on Good Morning America as with all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks.

Starring Brie Larson in the leading role, the two-minute clip takes place in the mid-1990s and sees Samuel L Jackson take the role of Nick Fury.

Jackson’s character quickly befriends Larson’s Carol Danvers as she literally falls to Earth into a Blockbuster Video store.

The clip teases that Carol joins an elite military team, as part of alien race Kree, called Starforce.

However, she finds herself back on Earth to battle the Skrulls, the shape-shifting race of Marvel aliens, as they invade the planet with Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos leading the army.
