Clarksville adding seventh Sonic Drive-In

A throwback of sorts to the 1950s, where burgers and shakes were served by running or roller-skating wait staff, the Sonic Drive-In fast food chain represents a concept that is prevalent throughout Clarksville.

The city is about to gain its seventh Sonic location.

Mat Smiley, plans examiner for Clarksville Building Codes, confirmed that the newest Sonic has a building permit for a site at 1805 Madison St.

The building permit was pulled by Harry Crocker. Other specific details, including construction timetable, are not yet released.

Sonic Corporation, founded as Sonic Drive-In and more commonly known as Sonic, is owned by Inspire Brands, the parent company of Arby's and Buffalo Wild Wings. Sonic was founded in 1953, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The company is known for its full range of fast food burgers and hot dogs, and ice cream treats, along with other popular staples.

Sonic has additional Clarksville locations at 2219 Madison St., 1761 Wilma Rudolph Blvd., 701 N. Riverside Drive, 50 Dover Crossing, 3829 Trenton Road, 1970 Fort Campbell Blvd.
