Dec. 11 general election: Here's what's on the ballot

Voters across northeast Louisiana will be heading to the polls for a general election on Dec. 11.

Early voting started Nov. 27 and will continue through Dec. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registered voters need a photo ID or to sign a voter affidavit to vote. A Louisiana driver's license, a Louisiana special identification card, a United States military identification card that contains the applicant's name and a picture or other generally recognized picture identification that has both name and signature are acceptable forms of photo ID.

Early voting locations in Ouachita Parish are the Registrar of Voters office at 1650 DeSiard St. in Monroe and the West Ouachita Senior Center at 1800 N. 7th St. in West Monroe. Early voting locations in the surrounding parishes are:

  • Morehouse: Courthouse Annex, 129 N. Franklin, Bastrop

  • Tensas: Tensas Parish Courthouse Annex, 203 Hancock St., St. Joseph

  • Union: Courthouse Annex, 303 E Water St. #107, Farmerville

  • West Carroll: West Carroll Parish Courthouse, 305 E. Main St., Room 108, Oak Grove

These elections were originally set for Nov. 13, but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ida.

Below are the ballot items for the following parishes:

Morehouse Parish

  • Village of Oak Ridge — 5.03 Mills Continuation (10 years) for acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and/or operating public facilities, works and improvements of the Village for the following purposes: 1. water treatment and distribution, 2. sewers and sewage disposal, and 3. streets, roads, and drainage, said millage to represent a .03 millage increase over the 5 mills tax authorized to be levied through the year 2022 pursuant to an election held on Nov. 6, 2021

Ouachita Parish

  • East Ouachita Parish School District — $20M Bond (20 years) to incur debt and issue bonds exceeding $20,000,000, in one or more series, to run not exceeding 20 years from date thereof, with interest at a rate not exceeding 8% not per annum, for the purpose of acquiring and/or improving lands for building sites and playgrounds; including construction of necessary sidewalks and streets adjacent thereto; purchasing, erecting and/or improving school buildings and other school related facilities for the District

  • Town of Richwood — Mayoral Recall: Democratic Mayor Gerald Brown face a recall after organizers gathered enough signatures to put a recall on the ballot.

Tensas Parish

  • Parishwide School District No. 3 — 8.45 Mills Continuation (10 years) for a special tax for the purpose of maintaining the public schools of Tensas Parish

Union Parish

  • Wards 3, 4 and 10, Hospital Service Dist. No. 1 — 54.7 Mills Continuation (10 years) for operations and maintenance of the hospital for the care of persons suffering from illnesses or disabilities which require care in the District

West Carroll Parish

  • Town of Oak Grove, Proposition 1 for a 2.84 mills tax for the purpose of operating and maintaining the municipal cemetery, a permanent public improvement

  • Town of Oak Grove, Proposition 2 for a 7.12 mills tax for the purpose of maintaining and improving public streets and alleys within and for the Town
