Don't miss Augusta native competing in Miss America contest Thursday night
Lakeside High School graduate Karson Pennington will join 50 other contestants as she appears as Miss Georgia in the Miss America contest this week.
Pennington, currently a PhD student in Political Science and International Affairs at the University of Georgia, has spent the last week at the competition in Connecticut, completing interviews and tap dancing for her talent portion, all leading up to the final night of competition Thursday at 8 p.m.
The winner will receive the crown and title of Miss America 2022, as well as a $100,000 college scholarship.

This year's show is only available on Peacock TV, but a paid subscription is not necessary according to the Miss America Organization.
