Edgewood man appointed by governor to Maryland Legal Services Corporation board

Jul. 18—Gov. Wes Moore has appointed Terry V. Jackson, 43, of Edgewood, as a member of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation Board of Directors.

"I am incredibly grateful to the Moore-Miller Administration for appointing me to the Board of Directors for the Maryland Legal Services Corporation," said Jackson. "This opportunity fills me with a profound sense of fortune, as it allows me to contribute to the very communities in Maryland that have enriched my life in countless ways."

Jackson has worked as an accountant for nearly 15 years. He graduated from Morgan State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and obtained his master's in professional accounting from Strayer University in 2007. Jackson served as the treasurer and chief financial officer for the Town of Bladensburg, and as assistant controller of CBS Radio, Inc. from 2009 until 2015.

In 2016, Jackson worked for the Department of Justice where he obtained his certification for government financial manager from the Association of Government Accountants, an organization for financial professionals in government.

In 2019, he joined the Peace Corps as an accountant.

"I joined the Peace Corps because of its richness in culture and diversity," said Jackson. "The work of Peace Corps is far reaching and impactful as it has a footprint in 140 countries around the world. I was very fortunate to be a part of this very important work."

Jackson moved to Edgwood in 2020, and in 2022, Jackson joined NASA as an accountant. He applied to become a member of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation Board of Directors through the governor's appointment office.

The Maryland Legal Services Corporation makes grants to nonprofit organizations that provide civil legal services for low-income Marylanders.

"Being given the chance to give back to these communities is truly a privilege that I do not take lightly," said Jackson. "It is a humbling experience to be entrusted with this responsibility, and I am committed to dedicating myself wholeheartedly to the mission of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation."
