The Costa Mesa, California-based company said it had net income of 28 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 19 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 18 cents per share.

The Tex-Mex fast food chain posted revenue of $120.4 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $121.2 million.
