Encompass Health: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) _ Encompass Health Corp. (EHC) on Monday reported third-quarter profit of $88.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the Birmingham, Alabama-based company said it had profit of 89 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, were 91 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 79 cents per share.

The rehabilitation hospital operator posted revenue of $1.07 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.06 billion.

Encompass Health expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.55 to $3.63 per share, with revenue in the range of $4.25 billion to $4.3 billion.

Encompass Health shares have climbed 46 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $71.95, an increase of 56 percent in the last 12 months.
