With EPS Growth And More, Niu Technologies (NASDAQ:NIU) Is Interesting

In this article:

Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. But as Peter Lynch said in One Up On Wall Street, 'Long shots almost never pay off.'

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like Niu Technologies (NASDAQ:NIU), which has not only revenues, but also profits. Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

How Fast Is Niu Technologies Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

Over the last three years, Niu Technologies has grown earnings per share (EPS) like young bamboo after rain; fast, and from a low base. So I don't think the percent growth rate is particularly meaningful. As a result, I'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. Like a wedge-tailed eagle on the wind, Niu Technologies's EPS soared from CN¥2.24 to CN¥2.96, in just one year. That's a commendable gain of 32%.

I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. Niu Technologies maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 52% to CN¥3.7b. That's a real positive.

Are Niu Technologies Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. So it is good to see that Niu Technologies insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Notably, they have an enormous stake in the company, worth CN¥249m. That equates to 33% of the company, making insiders powerful and aligned with other shareholders. Very encouraging.

Should You Add Niu Technologies To Your Watchlist?

You can't deny that Niu Technologies has grown its earnings per share at a very impressive rate. That's attractive. Further, the high level of insider ownership impresses me, and suggests that I'm not the only one who appreciates the EPS growth. So this is very likely the kind of business that I like to spend time researching, with a view to discerning its true value. It's still necessary to consider the ever-present spectre of investment risk. We've identified 2 warning signs with Niu Technologies , and understanding these should be part of your investment process.

Although Niu Technologies certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
