BRUSSELS, May 7 (Reuters) - The European Commission has set a July 9 deadline for deciding whether to approve Vodafone's proposed purchase of Liberty Global's cable business in Germany and eastern Europe.
The Commission, which oversees competition policy in the EU, said in a filing that the parties had submitted commitments on May 6. The deadline was previously listed as June 18. (Reporting by Philip Blenkinsop)
