Channel 4’s new reality TV show, Naked Beach, has proven to be a hit with viewers who have praised it for being “inspiring” and “empowering”.

The show sees contestants with body insecurities go to the beach in just body paint.

Four people with body insecurities jet off to Greece to spend time with and seek advice from body confident people.

The people with body insecurities have just four days before they’re asked to strip naked on a beach.

The show, which has been hailed for “radiating positivity”, is designed as an experiment aimed to boost people’s self-esteem.

Britain has some of the lowest body image scores in the world. The empowering sentiment hasn’t been lost on most viewers.

One tweet read: “Watching Channel Four’s “Naked Beach”, probably the most ground breaking reality tv I’ve watching thus far. Bravo.”

Another agreed: “Naked Beach is a show I thought I’d hate (I don’t like watching people feel uncomfortable or embarrassed) but I LOVE IT – not one person has failed to change, it works. I hope a second series is commissioned, it’s literally life changing.”

Not everybody has seen the show in such a positive light, though.

One viewer called out Channel 4 for not including “bodies of all shapes and sizes”.

Another wrote: “Yet another programme of “attention seekers in the buff”. Sad to see a once good channel churning out trash T.V.”

One furious viewer even likened the show to porn: “Cheap TV, why don’t Channel 4 just put on a porno film instead?”

Mostly, people were “pleasantly surprised” with the Channel 4’s new show. Here’s hoping it’s a step forward towards greater body positivity.
