Firm helps companies keep on trucking

Oct. 10—A company committed to helping commercial trucking owners and operators remain updated with regulations opened a facility in Scranton — its first location in Northeast Pennsylvania.

DOT Compliance Services LLC — in business since 2016 — established the site at 1726 N. Keyser Ave. in August in collaboration with Northeast Title & Tag, said Matt Kurey, DOT Compliances' business development manager.

"Northeast Title & Tag is a PennDOT authorized service center that has been servicing all the DMV needs for Northeastern Pennsylvania for years," Kurey said. "We're the trucking and compliance division — we service trucking companies, owner/operators, and safety-sensitive employees with all their compliance filings, starting new trucking companies, and applying for DOT and MC numbers."

Kurey added DOT Compliance also has an occupational medicine division for Department of Transportation medical exams, drug testing and breath alcohol testing, and the facility offers on-site services including hiring events.

"Truck drivers and business owners are busy," Kurey said. "They're on the road or running their operations. When they came in for their registration and title work, we saw a need for it. We started offering it and it kind of grew out of its own necessity. Now, it's a one-stop shop for everything trucking — from starting your authority to compliance to occupational medicine to insurance and registration with Northeast Title & Tag."

Kurey noted DOT Compliance Services would like to establish additional sites in Northeast Pennsylvania, including one in the Poconos.

Bob Norton, director of maintenance for Dunmore-based Road Scholar Transport, anticipates the company utilizing DOT Compliance Services due to the convenience of services including medical exams.

"I love it — it's great," Norton said. "There are physicians that offer it, but I believe you'd be able to get in and out quicker here. Then, on the other side, you can do all your licensing."
