Five transfer offensive tackles that could be potential targets for the Auburn Tigers

Probably the biggest position of need for Bryan Harsin’s team. Offensive tackle.

The Auburn Tigers have limped through several seasons with no strength at offensive tackle and with the inability to recruit one from the high school ranks, Auburn has had to rely on transfers.

Last season, many expected Harsin to bring in a few offensive linemen through the transfer portal. He ended up bringing in none and stuck with the guys that were on the roster.

Today is our second day highlighting five potential fits in the transfer portal. Today we will look at five offensive tackles that could help this offensive take a huge step in 2022.

In yesterday’s installment, we mentioned Brey Walker from Oklahoma and Cade Beresford from Washington State. So, keep these guys in mind as well as we go through this list.

Miles Frazier, OT, FIU

It has been reported by On3 and Auburn Undercover that offensive line coach Will Friend made an in-home visit with Frazier on Monday.

Larry Dowdy, OT, App State

ohn Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Dowdy is a former 3-star with good size. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 285 pounds.

He redshirted as a freshman and did not see game action in 2020. Did not appear to start in 2021.

Bobby Haskins, OT, Virginia

Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

Bobby Haskins is a 6-foot-7, 295-pound tackle with one season of eligibility left. He played in eight of Virginia’s 10 games in 2020. He was one of the better linemen on Virginia’s squad this season. He earned ACC offensive lineman of the week for his performance against North Carolina.

Nason Simmons, OT, Arkansas State

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Simmons does not have a ton of experience but perhaps a tie to Arkansas State, where Harsin used to coach, my draw some interest. He’s listed at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds. He’d have multiple years of eligibility left if Auburn wanted to invest in him.

Naasir Watkins, OT, Kentucky

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Watkins is an older tackle. He’s a redshirt senior for the Wildcats. He spent multiple years in the SEC but only some action in 25 games in Lexington since arriving in 2017. Still, worth watching to see if Auburn wants to go after 6-foot-6, 300-pound for 3-star.
