Gus Kenworthy Visited a Raccoon Café in Seoul, South Korea

Even though his time competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics has come to an end, Gus Kenworthy is still in South Korea exploring tourist attractions with his boyfriend, Matthew Wilkas. As part of their vacation, the duo visited a raccoon café in Seoul on Thursday. Yes, you've heard of cat cafés, dog cafés, and even a Hello Kitty–themed café, but, in South Korea, the animal restaurants are a bit different.

Gus shared photos of himself and his boyfriend with several raccoons. "They really do love trash! 😂 This raccoon cafe was honestly the highlight of my trip to Korea so far (no offense Olympics)!🗑️🐼," Gus admitted in the captions. He also posted a picture that seems to be hanging in the raccoon café and reads, "He is a boy. He is not pregnant. He is just fat," with the caption, "Same."

Though the pictures look like Gus and Matt are having a lot of fun, there have been some reports of less-than-cuddly behavior at the raccoon café in the past. A video of a woman holding a raccoon by its paws while it stands on her shoulders has gone viral a few times leading animal rights activists to speak out about the potential dangers of allowing wild animals to interact in such close quarters with humans. (Not to mention, having enough space to live comfortably.) And as The Dodo notes, there have been reportedly been several negative reviews on Facebook and TripAdvisor from people who have visited the location, called Blind Alley, concerned about the welfare of the animals and how the staff treats them.

In less polarizing news, Gus has major plans for his post-Olympics career. Though he says he's still considering whether he'll try to qualify for the next Winter Olympics, in 2022, the athlete is also considering getting into acting, just like his significant other, who stars in the film Gayby. According to People, the Olympian says he might begin to split his time between Los Angeles and New York instead of his native Colorado. The trip to the Olympics has been historic for Gus, who became one of the first openly gay athletes to compete and the first on-air same-sex couple kiss at the games. “I’ve had the most fun this year that I’ve had in as long as I can remember, and, despite injuries and the Olympics maybe not going my way, it’s been one of my favorite seasons,” he said at the time.
