Hilton hotel, Toyota, McDonald's: What's new in Jacksonville's building permits

The Mayo Clinic campus will soon be the home of a new 252-room Hilton Hotel complete with a ballroom.

This will be the second hotel for Mayo, joining the 134-room Courtyard by Marriott Jacksonville. The Hilton will be built on over five-and-a-half acres of land and stand eight stories tall with an enclosed area of 184,111 square feet.

It will be located near the new entrance to Mayo, and the cost of the overall project is $49,500,000. William A. Randolph Inc. is the contractor for the job. | Read more

New Southeast Toyota Distributors warehouse for Jacksonville's Westside

A new warehouse for Southeast Toyota Distributors is in the works. The two-story, 416,000-square-feet cross-dock building will be located at 9909 Pritchard Rd, Unit 300. The cost of the project is $21,000,000, and the work will be done by Evans General Contractors.

Feeding Northeast Florida expanding

Feeding Northeast Florida has been issued a permit to begin renovations of a 103,427-square-foot warehouse on just over six acres of land at 5245 Old Kings Road on Jacksonville's Northside.

The new site will include warehouse, logistics, distribution, and operations centers arranged in a "campus-style" environment. This new facility more than doubles the space of the current headquarters and warehouse on Edgewood Avenue which has been in operation since 2014.

The cost of the overall project is $9,019,890 with work being done by The Conlan Company. The project is expected to be completed by year's end. | Read more

Lomax Restaurant coming to Five Points

The City has issued a permit for construction to begin on the new Lomax Restaurant that will be located at 803 Lomax St., in the former Wells Fargo bank building.

Using part of the existing building, and adding a new addition, the permit shows the restaurant will be two-story with 6,579 square feet of indoor space when completed.

The cost of the project is $2,215,000, and Toney Construction Co., Inc. is the contractor.

New McDonald's for Arlington, renovations for McDonald's on Northside

McDonald's Restaurants of Florida, Inc., has been issued a permit to build a new, free-standing McDonald's at 7245 Merrill Rd. The cost for the 3,872-square-foot restaurant is $1,242,000, with the work being done by Davies General Contracting.

And on the Northside, the McDonald's at 909 Dunn Ave., is undergoing renovations that will include the installation of a new modular front counter that will incorporate self-order kiosks in the lobby area, new interior decor, updated restrooms that are ADA-compliant, and the installation of roof mounted condensing unit. The cost for the upgrade is $260,000 with Stansell Properties and Development, LLC will be handling the work.

City upgrading Moncrief Park playground

For the second week in a row, permits have been approved for upgrades to a local park. The City of Jacksonville is installing new playground equipment and safety surfacing at Moncrief Park at 3800 Moncrief Road on the Northside. This park sits on .07 acres of land and covers 3,000 square feet of space. The cost of the project rounds out at $76,745, and Bliss Products and Services Inc. will be leading the work.

Just last week, we reported upgrades for Liberty Park in Historic Springfield. The cost of that project was listed as $92,355.
