Hilton Worldwide surges, Twitter skyrockets, Southwest Airlines falls

Hilton Worldwide (HLT): Pershing Square announced a new investment in Hilton Worldwide Holdings and now holds 10.9 million shares, a 3.7% stake in the hotel operator.

Twitter (TWTR ): The social networking service beat estimates by 7 cents a share with adjusted quarterly profit of 21 cents per share. Revenue also beat Wall Street expectations. Twitter says user numbers slipped to 326 million from 335 million at the end of June.

Southwest Airlines (LUV): The airliner reported quarterly profit of $1.08 per share, 2 cents above estimates. Southwest beat in revenue. Increased travel demand helped to offset the higher fuel costs.
