Hostess’ Limited-Edition Mermaid CupCakes Are Back, And They’ve Gotten A Colorful Upgrade
Call us suckers for a good theme, but we were pretty excited when Hostess released Mermaid CupCakes last year. The teal icing and pink swirl brought the under-the-sea vibe to life! It must have been a hit, because it’s back again with a different color profile.
This time around, the limited-edition cupcakes start with yellow cake with pink and purple specks mixed in and is stuffed with creamy filling. It’s topped with purple icing, a blue swirl, and darker blue sprinkles.
Instagram account @threesnackateers spotted the Mermaid CupCakes in a box of eight individually wrapped cakes — along with those new Iced Lemon CupCakes — at Jewel, and @wingardiumlariosa found them in a box of 16. And if you don’t want to commit just yet, Sam’s Club just added a variety pack with eight Mermaid CupCakes and eight Chocolate Cupcakes to its lineup.
Keep in mind that, just like last year, the Mermaid CupCakes will only be around for a limited time. The good news is that it doesn’t appear that they’re a store exclusive, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble hunting a box down. All we’re saying is that we bet any kid would love finding one of these in their lunchbox. Actually, so would any adult.
