These hotels in East Nashville and downtown were just named among best hotels in North America

Two Nashville hotels were recently named some of the best to stay at, not in Tennessee and not in the country but in the world.

Fodor's Travel announced the 2024 edition of its Fodor's Finest: The Most Incredible Hotels in the World list which includes hotels from almost every corner of the Earth. The list is broken down by location: Africa and the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, South America and the Caribbean, and North America.

Instead of focusing on the trendiest and most luxurious hotels, Fodor's Finest included a vast range of global properties capable of accommodating almost every budget. "Each selected property provides an immersive, authentic, and unforgettable experience that goes well beyond a pretty backdrop for social media posts," they said.

"The best hotels give us peace and comfort – but also lure us into their romance, their passions, their intrigue. They are often destinations unto themselves, allowing visitors to escape to somewhere truly unique without ever leaving the property," said Jeremy Tarr, Editorial Director at Fodors.com. "The properties on this year's list make us long to become permanent lodgers, who wander the halls singing of the many delights that each property possesses."

Only 13 United States hotels made the list of the 20 North American hotels. Included are The Hermitage Hotel and Urban Cowboy Nashville. The Arrive Hotel in Memphis also made the list.

The Hermitage Hotel, 'integrating modern luxury with timeless elegance'

Fodor's Travel praised the Hermitage Hotel for fusing modern amenities with its historic and iconic architecture, truly encapsulating the best of both worlds.

They said stepping under the arched ceilings and bespoke lighting was like stepping back in time, while still enjoying contemporary amenities like reimagined event spaces, marble tubs and streaming services.

Fodor's Travel applauded the hotel's Drusie & Darr restaurant, where world renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten made his American South debut. The menu serves as a testament to the bounty of Tennessee produce they said.

Urban Cowboy, 'exactly what Nashville needed'

The juxtaposition between the chaos of Broadway and the tranquil Victorian hotel is just what Nashville needed said Fodor's Travel.

Fodor's Travel commended Urban Cowboy's warm, vintage atmosphere made possible by the carefully curated furniture and design elements like chevron wall details, a deer antler chandelier, and ornate tiles fireplaces among others.

The hotel is also admired for its laid back ambiance, complete with a self-check in feature, fresh morning bagels and an outdoor patio where guests can revel with live music and cocktails.
