Hundreds of thousands of seasonal jobs available for holiday shopping season. Here's who's hiring.

The grueling holiday season is almost upon us with long lines and endless packages expected to overwhelm stores and post offices. Fortunately, some retailers are putting work in on the front end to make sure things can run smoothly when those high buying times are finally here.

These companies are hiring nationally and locally to make sure their customers' needs are met. For those seeking holiday work, here are some employers to consider.

Amazon

Amazon announced it would be hiring 250,000 employees across the nation and 7,600 of those jobs would be in Memphis.  Full-time, part-time and holiday positions will be in stowing, packing, picking, sorting and shipping.

Though the new positions have not been posted, position seekers can apply here when the positions are open. Applicants can search via position or location to see what jobs would fit them best.

Future applicants can also text NEWJOB to 77088 to receive updates on jobs near them.

FedEx

Despite being a Memphis-based company, FedEx has not announced any plans for mass hiring like Amazon or UPS. Instead, the company has stated that they will hire for positions as needed in certain locations and for those interested to visit their site to see job availability.

Target

Target plans to hire 100,000 seasonal team members to the company of over 400,000 employees. There were no specific numbers for Memphis.

Positions include guest advocate, front-of-store attendant, fulfillment expert, general merchandising expert, food and beverage expert, and style consultant. Employment seekers should apply here.

According to Target's announcement, many seasonal team members are offered an opportunity to stay with the store following the holiday season.

UPS

UPS announced that it would be hiring more than 100,000 workers nationwide. The company plans to hire 425 employees in Memphis for full and part-time seasonal positions. These primarily consist of delivery drivers, commercial driver's license drivers and package handlers.

According to the press release nearly 80% of seasonal positions do not require an interview.
