Insiders who purchased this year lose US$4.2k as Kelly Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:KELY.A) stock drops to US$17.41

In this article:

The recent 8.4% drop in Kelly Services, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:KELY.A) stock could come as a blow to insiders who purchased US$248k worth of stock at an average buy price of US$17.71 over the past 12 months. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth US$244k, which is not great.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Kelly Services Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Chairman of the Board Donald Parfet for US$248k worth of shares, at about US$18.01 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of US$17.41. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. Donald Parfet was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.
