Katy Perry's advice for dealing with anxiety is being mocked on social media

Katy Perry tried to offer medical advice — and some fans didn’t like it.

Though the pop star no doubt had good intentions, her tweet about coping with anxiety by breathing through her nose is being derided as obvious.

While breathing techniques have been recommended as tools to help soothe anxious moments, mentions about Perry’s tweet are full of amusement and sarcasm.

While effective mental health coping strategies vary from person to person, Perry has previously spoken about taking beta blockers.

“I have to take beta blockers [before each show], I get so nervous,” she told Cosmopolitan in 2014.

“[I think] that I have to get through this; I can’t let these people down, but mostly I can’t let myself down. I’ve been given a great opportunity and there are 500 bitches behind me who will snatch my weave off my head if I don’t kick-ball-change through this two-hour show.”

Last year she also opened up about her mental health and suicidal thoughts by letting fans watch a therapy session during a 96-hour live-stream of her life.
