UPDATE, November 18, 2019, 12:43 p.m.:

The highly anticipated KFC chicken and waffles are officially available nationwide. Starting today, fried chicken and waffles will be available at KFC restaurants...but only for a limited time.

During this limited release, Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles will be an option, too. This is a spicy, smoky, saucy version of your choice of KFC tenders or bone-in chicken, so it adds another layer of flavor alongside the sweet Belgian waffles and syrup.

You can get one breast, two-piece thigh, and drumstick, or three-piece tenders with a waffle and a side of Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup for $6.49 or you can get a Crispy Colonel Waffle Sandwich for $5.99. Prices may vary by location, but this menu item will only be around for a limited time, so hit up KFC before December 31!

There are some food combinations that just don't seem like they'd work but they somehow do. Chocolate and chilis, ice cream and potato chips, grilled cheese and peanut butter (trust me!), and perhaps the most famous, chicken and waffles. Well now, KFC is offering this beloved combination but taken up a few spicy notches with its new Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles.

You may already know that KFC has had chicken and waffles in the past and it's had Nashville Hot Chicken since 2016. But someone at the chain became a benevolent genius and decided to combine the two together, making what I can only imagine is crunchy and soft, sweet and spicy, all in one dish.

You can enjoy this dish one of a few ways: The first is a Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle Sandwich. This is made up of KFC's fried chicken, topped with Nashville Hot sauce, placed between two waffles, and served with a side of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup. Yeah just threw that extra topping in out of nowhere, right? But what are waffles without syrup...even if they're already covered in hot sauce. This sandwich will cost $5.99, just FYI.

Another option is the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles Platter, which features bone-in chicken or tenders topped with Nashville Hot sauce, served with waffles and a side of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup for $6.49.

You can also make it a Big Basket which include two waffles and two syrups, with a choice of two-piece white meat, three-piece dark meat, or four-piece tenders, with or without Nashville Hot sauce. This will run you about $8.49 and also includes a drink.

Just in case you can't handle the spice, KFC is also bringing back normal Chicken and Waffles, too. Both versions are available for a limited time.

I don't know about you, but as someone who frequently eats chicken and waffles at brunch, I might just have to add KFC into my rotation...or at least get KFC delivery the morning after a night out.
