Liberty: Deception Vol. 1 - A Sci-fi Comic Adventure Announces its Launch

Liberty is a Sci-Fi Action-Adventure Comic Based in the Dystopian Colony-Planet of Atrius

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / April 6, 2016 / Travis Vengroff, a Florida-based storyteller best known for his writing and audio-drama productions, recently announced the launch of his new project, Liberty: Deception Vol. 1- A Sci-fi Comic Adventure. The comic series, which explores the dystopian colony-planet of Atrius, chronicles the adventures of exiled war-hero Tertulius Justus—who is on a mission to recruit a group of untrustworthy prisoners to escape certain death.

Throughout the last few centuries, Atrius’ resources became even scarcer, eventually leading to schisms throughout the planet’s inhabitants. The city is currently divided between a police state and anarchists, who currently reside in The Fringe—a place where gangs run free and cannibalism is seen as a way of life. Tertulius Justus serves as the hero of the Tolkien-esque comic book, whose core story is already completed.

Vengroff, who enjoys sci-fi and post-apocalyptic fiction, is joined by a vast artistic team who has worked on well-known comics. For example, Raymond Bermudez, the artist in charge of interior sketches and inks, has previously worked on Justice League and X-Men, and Joana Lafuente, who is heading the interior color section, also worked on GI Joe and Transformers. The team has already started raising awareness about the comic by giving away 3,500 copies of its prototype issue at events such as Tampa Bay Comic Con and creating an audio-drama podcast adventure called “Liberty: Critical Research.”

At this time, Vengroff is taking his comic book project to Kickstarter, where he seeks funds to continue developing Liberty. The Liberty team is giving away a number of rewards to their contributors, such as posters and guides.

Individuals interested in learning more about Vengroff and his plans for Liberty can follow the comic’s Kickstarter page for additional information.

About Liberty:

Liberty is a comic about a colony that is forgotten by the rest of humanity. Encompassed by planet-wide desert, the colony of Atrius endures. Over the centuries, resource scarcity led to schisms in the population and now the vast city is split between a police state and the vast but fractured population of anarchists, who live in what is referred to as the Fringe. The Fringe is a place where gangs run everything, where cannibalism is the norm, and it is there that exiled war-hero Tertulius Justus must recruit a rag-tag brigade of untrustworthy prisoners to escape certain death.
