Turning a street car into an off-road-ready machine is all the rage right now, so it was only a matter of time before this happened. Ralph Hosier Engineering of England has transformed a normal Civic Type R into the rally-ready hot hatch of your fantasies.

The car, called the Civic Type OveRland, was one of two bespoke builds commissioned by Honda UK to show off at an annual journalist test event at the Millbrook Proving Grounds in Bedfordshire. It's been lifted three inches thanks to custom trailing arm mounts and modified transverse links, and a further inch thanks to a set of 18-inch lightweight competition wheels wrapped in tall BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. The wheels have been painted white to match the car, and look wonderful.

There are huge fenders to fit the new wheel-tire setup, spare tires in the trunk, a roll cage, and a rally-style roof scoop meant to funnel cool air into the cabin. The side skirts and front splitter have been deleted to improve ground clearance, giving this Civic a taut, muscular stance.

The second car, a Type R tuned by Team Dynamics Motorsport, features an ECU tune, suspension upgrades, and Team Dynamics wheels wrapped in Dunlop performance tires. It looks great:

Honda UK says the safari car isn't fully complete, but estimates it'll be ready in one month. It also says it has no plans to produce either of the bespoke builds en masse. If you want to have one, though, Ralph Hosier Engineering says it will happily take commissions for discerning customers.
