Lizzo's Lakers Game Outfit Exposed Her Butt and People Have Mixed Feelings

On Thursday, Dec. 12, Lizzo stopped by CBS This Morning to discuss the online controversy surrounding her Lakers game outfit. And in true Lizzo fashion, she made her thoughts on the matter very clear: The backlash is irrelevant.
"It's their opinion, so I mean, it's not for me to really ingest,” she said. “It's for them to express and for me to choose to listen or not."
Lizzo went on to say, “You know how long it's took me to fall in love with this body? My butt was my least favorite thing about myself, and I learned to love it. And that was the thing everybody can't stop talking about."
As always, Lizzo will never apologize for being herself, and this situation is no different. She clarified that despite what others online have been spreading, she was wearing a layer underneath — likely a pair of tights — so that her butt was not skin to seat. But nevertheless, the situation was blown out of proportion and Lizzo was not here for that tea. “It was out. It be out… Be you, do you. Don’t let anyone steal your joy, especially not the internet.”

It's likely we'll see Lizzo courtside again soon. On Wednesday, the Houston Rockets Twitter account officially invited the singer to a game, tweeting, "@Lizzo, we like your moves! You have an open invite to come home to Houston and dance with @OfficialCCD on the court any time!"
Lizzo then responded, vowing that she will be there with "bells on my booty." And while a date hasn't yet been set, the Rockets already responded, writing, "Let us know when."

Whether they're huge sports fans or not, celebrities are often spotted sitting courtside at basketball games trying to blend in. But when Lizzo walked into the L.A. Lakers game on December 8, no one expected her to fade into the crowd. The "Truth Hurts" singer commanded attention, as she always does, this time because of what she was wearing.
Lizzo's outfit choice for the night was on par with her brand: An oversized black T-shirt that featured a circle cut out around her butt, showing a black thong underneath. The outfit called for some good ol’ twerking, which Lizzo gave the fans while on the big screen, jamming to her very own “Juice.”
One thing was clear, Lizzo was feeling good as hell which, in turn, made fans feel the same way. "i was offered to go to the lakers game yesterday but i said no because i’m lazy. i could have saw lizzo tho," one fan tweeted of their despair over missing the queen in action.\
Other fans tweeted that Lizzo was serving major Rikishi vibes, referencing the American wrestler who often wore a similar look. "Somebody said Lizzo looked like Rikishi with that outfit on and I can’t stop crying," a fan tweeted. Honestly, the comparison isn't too far off.
There were, however, many negative reactions to Lizzo's outfit choice for the game, which started a debate on Twitter about whether or not it was appropriate to expose her body in such a way in that environment.
"I love Lizzo, but this isn't appropriate for ANYONE to wear to a game with kids present no matter what their shape or size," one user argued. Another presented a different point of view: "It just sucks that it takes someone so talented, positive & beautiful being continuously torn down for some of yall to finally believe fatphobia is real. Your fat friends been telling you, but welcome. Time to support us too."
Whether you loved it or hated it, clearly Lizzo stirred up some feelings with her look, as she’s always done. But at the end of the day, it was precisely what we would expect from the legend herself.
