Matt and Becca Hamilton might have been the first American athletes to hit the spotlight at these Olympics, but their time as the center of attention didn’t last long.

The brother-and-sister curling duo from McFarland, Wisconsin was eliminated from the mixed doubles competition with two games left in the round robin competition on Saturday. The pair won its opening match at these games, but then dropped four straight games to ensure they won’t be among the top four teams to advance to the semifinals.

Saturday’s 6-4 loss to Wang Rui and Ba Dexin of China ran their record to 1-4. They were scheduled to face the Norwegian team later in the day.

The Hamiltons shot well in their games, but suffered from a bit of bad luck. Their 9-4 loss to Switzerland on Friday came as a result of the Swiss posting the equivalent of a perfect game in baseball.

Known on Twitter as #HamFam, the Hamiltons have quickly become fan favorites as people debated just who Matt looks like (Super Mario? Andy Reid?) The good news is that they won’t be going anywhere: Matt will appear in the men’s curling competition while Becca will compete with the American women’s squad.
