Mirai Nagasu wants to be on 'Dancing with the Stars' with Adam Rippon

The 26th season of “Dancing with the Stars” will premiere this spring and ABC has announced the cast will be made entirely of athletes. That means a few of the athletes we’ve seen starring in PyeongChang will probably be featured on the show.

Adam Rippon seems like a lock ever since the American figure skater became one of the breakout stars of the Olympics. But don’t count out his teammate Mirai Nagasu, who told Yahoo Sports that she wants a spot so she can compete against the friend and athletes’ village roommate she shares a matching tattoo with.

“I hope I’ll be there with him,” Nagasu told Yahoo Sports. “I’ve never gotten the opportunity to compete against Adam, but I would love (it).”

Who would get farther?

“I guess we’ll have to find out,” Nagasu said.

No cast members for Season 26 have been announced, nor has ABC set a start date.

Olympians have been featured on past seasons of the show and experienced a good deal of success.

Short-track speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno was the first Winter Olympian to compete on the show and he took home the Mirrorball trophy in the fourth season. Figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi (season six) and ice dancer Meryl Davis (season 18) also won titles.

That beats the two titles won by America’s Summer Olympians: gymnast Shawn Johnson (season 8) and gymnast Laurie Hernandez (season 23).
