FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) _ Misonix Inc. (MSON) on Thursday reported a loss of $2.6 million in its fiscal first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Farmingdale, New York-based company said it had a loss of 29 cents.

The maker of minimally invasive ultrasonic surgical devices for spine surgery posted revenue of $9.4 million in the period.

Misonix shares have climbed 71 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $16.20, an increase of 54 percent in the last 12 months.
