US Corporate Governance participation, a benchmark for token participation overtime?

In evaluating governance participation it’s helpful to have a benchmark to make relative comparisons against. While some ‘comparables’ to other voter participation may include general political election turnouts: US Presidential Elections saw ~57% turnout between 2000-2016/ Political referendums (Brexit ~72%), or the medium of voting for political elections digitally (like in Estonia which saw ~44% of participating parliament election voters use i-voting, up 13% since 2015), we think the best yardstick for token based governance — and learning what drives greaater participation — is comparing results to corporate governance.
