Moore appoints new controller, development director

Mar. 22—The city has a new development director and city controller.

Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore has appointed Wes Reed, former city controller, as the new director of city's development department.

The shake ups within the two departments came after longtime director of development Jennifer Jordan left her job at the city earlier this month to work in the private sector at Duke Energy Corporation.

Jordan served as director of development under two city administrations, Greg Goodnight and Moore, and was vital in downtown redevelopment and attracting the StarPlus Energy electric vehicle battery plants. She had also previously worked in the city controller's office.

Moore said Jordan's contributions to the city have been "invaluable."

"As much as she likes to lay low and be behind the scenes, she deserves probably the most credit than anyone over the last five to 10 years," he said. "We will miss her tremendously."

About Reed's change of roles, Moore said it seemed like a "natural fit" as the now former city controller is familiar with the finances and details of the city's ongoing development projects.

Reed was tapped by Moore to be his controller before he took office. Reed was formerly the county's elected treasurer.

Replacing Reed as city controller is Thu Caven. Caven previously was the city's deputy controller and has been working in the controller's office for more than two decades.
