Multiple insiders bought Thermon Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:THR) stock earlier this year, a positive sign for shareholders

In this article:

Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of Thermon Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:THR), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Thermon Group Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Non-Executive Chairperson John Nesser bought US$57k worth of shares at a price of US$16.35 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$19.98), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Insider Ownership Of Thermon Group Holdings

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It appears that Thermon Group Holdings insiders own 1.7% of the company, worth about US$11m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
