Nuvasive’s former CEO joins 3M spinoff

For the last five years, Barry was CEO of spine specialist Nuvasive, which was acquired in September by orthopedics company Globus Medical. Prior to his time with Nuvasive, Barry also held leadership roles at Medtronic and Covidien. 

Barry will join 3M in March, leading its Medical Solutions Division, which includes its wound care products. His responsibilities include driving growth for the division, portfolio management, and product and business model innovation. 

Barry is the latest medtech executive to join 3M’s health business as the company prepares for a spinoff. 3M has also poached executives from Zimmer Biomet and Insulet to lead the new company, to be named Solventum.

The company is expected to spin out in the first half of 2024, subject to board approval and other conditions.
