Person dies in collision with Union Pacific train in Los Angeles county

Jan 24 (Reuters) - A freight train operated by Union Pacific collided with and killed a person near El Monte city in Los Angeles county, California, shutting down the railroad line indefinitely, as per a report filed with the state's emergency services.

The California Emergency Management Agency report said the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. local time, near Mile Post 494.2 in the Alahambra subdivision, and the city's fire and police departments were responding. (Reporting by Deep Vakil in Bengaluru Editing by Chris Reese)
