Pick these stocks over US equities: Expert·CNBC

Asian markets including India and China look attractive compared to U.S. stocks as they are "substantially less valued," Atlantic Trust's chief investment officer said on Monday.

"I think India is a very interesting market. You're beginning to see some economic reforms kick in there," Dave Donabedian told CNBC's " Power Lunch ."

Though U.S. stocks were broadly down on Monday, the three major American indexes still traded near all-time highs. Donabedian has looked for opportunity outside the U.S. as many other markets are "substantially less valued."

He believes reforms under Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have started to show results.

In China, he sees promise despite disappointing economic data coming from the country. Stocks have performed well despite China's slowing growth, he said.

The Shanghai Composite Index (Shanghai Stock Exchange: .SSEC) settled nearly one percent higher on Monday and has climbed more than 50 percent in the last year.

"The equity market had underperformed for a number of years and seems to be doing better," Donabedian said.

He added that U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen 's two-day testimony before Congress, which starts Tuesday, will contribute to U.S. market performance this week.
