Princess Eugenie met her soon-to-be husband, Jack Brooksbank, on a skiing trip in Switzerland back in 2010. And while the lovebirds officially announced their engagement in January 2018, it's being reported that they decided to get married much earlier, but were forced to delay the news because of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The next royal wedding takes place on October 12, 2018, but according to an anonymous source in Vanity Fair, Princess Eugenie had wanted to get married as early as last year.

The source reveals, "It’s my understanding that Eugenie and Jack decided some time ago that they wanted to get married, and there was some talk about a wedding in 2017, but they had to wait for Harry to go first." As Prince Harry's rank within the royal family is that much higher than Princess Eugenie's-Harry is currently sixth in line to the throne, while Eugenie is ninth, per Town & Country-Meghan and Harry's big day took precedence.

As Princess Eugenie has apparently been forced to wait to announce her engagement, and plan her wedding, it's reported that her family believe that she now needs as big a wedding as possible. Per Vanity Fair's source, "The feeling among the Yorks is that she deserves her moment in the spotlight and a big royal wedding with all the frills."

Despite having to wait longer than she wanted, apparently the royal is totally fine with the order of things: "There are no bad feelings at all. Eugenie is very close to Harry, and she knows how the system works."
