Research Shows Term Limits for Candidates Favored by American Voters; Only The Alliance Party Requires its Candidates to Agree to Term Limits

COLUMBIA, SC / ACCESSWIRE / September 25, 2023 / The Alliance Party announced today that research shows a shift in voter sentiment toward support of term limits for elected members of state and federal offices, and suggested candidates who agree to be term-limited will achieve a ballot box advantage.

"Apparently frustrated by career politicians who achieve major political power but forget their obligations to their constituents, term limits have become wildly popular with American voters," declared Dr. Jim Rex, the Party's National Chair Emeritus and former elected State Superintendent of Education in South Carolina.

The Alliance Party is the only political party requiring its candidates to commit to be term limited after a maximum of 12 years of service in order to achieve its nomination or earn its endorsement.

"We're betting this commitment will pay off with voters," Rex declared.

A national February survey by the University of Maryland found that 83% of registered voters, including 86% of Republicans and 80% of Democrats, supported a constitutional amendment restricting how long members of congress can serve.

"The majority of voters believe we have too many entrenched, ineffective, and unaccountable career politicians in our state and federal legislative bodies who are more interested in holding onto their seat than representing their constituents," said Michelle M. Griffith, Alliance Party National Chair.
