Sanford Health welcomes Chief Dan King and Doug Carlson to board of directors

Mar. 26—BEMIDJI — Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota's Board of Directors recently welcomed Chief Dan King and Doug Carlson to the board at its January meeting.

King serves as the president of Red Lake Nation College and is a Hereditary Chief of the Red Lake Nation. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of St. Thomas and a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Carlson brings a wealth of experience in education and the Bagley community, having attended Bagley High School and Bemidji State University before returning to his hometown of Bagley. Before his retirement in 2011, he served 33 years as a health teacher, 13 years as athletic director and 35 years as a coach.

King and Carlson were appointed for three-year terms and may serve three consecutively on the board.

As the board's newest members, they join Board Chair Shelly Geerdes, CEO of Pinnacle Marketing Group; Vice Chair Ryan Welle, vice president of First National Bank; Treasurer Jeremie Midboe, shareholder/CPA of Miller McDonald, Inc.; Secretary Stephen Rith-Najarian, MD, of Sanford Health Family Medicine; retired businessman Pete Aube; Karla Eischens, president and CEO of Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota; retired clinical nurse and nursing professor Mary Fairbanks; retired clinical nurse Suzanne Frambers; Paul Bunyan Communications CEO/General Manager Gary Johnson; Sanford Health System Vice President Michael LeBeau, MD; Sanford Health Ophthalmologist Ashley Lundin, MD; and Sanford Health OB/GYN JoLyn Seitz, MD.
