There’s nothing casual about Justin Bieber’s new relationship status: engaged, just a month after he and Hailey Baldwin revived their on-again-off-again romance. Bieber confirmed the engagement Monday on Instagram, writing: “My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first. You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else.”

The 24-year-old pop star shocked the entertainment world Saturday night when he proposed to 21-year-old Baldwin in front of a crowd in Baker’s Bay in the Bahamas, with a ring purchased weeks in advance. His hasty move has some Yahoo commenters wondering: “What happened to Selena Gomez?”

The duo dated six years ago and were rumored to be back together last October. Bieber’s proposal — and Selena’s lack of a response to it on social media — have fans dying to know what’s up.

“I thought Bieber was in love with Selena Gomez last month?” one commenter wrote on Yahoo Entertainment’s original article. Another bet that the pop singer and actress wouldn’t take the news well: “I feel sad for Selena Gomez, since I’m sure she will feel hurt by this decision.”

But Gomez doesn’t seem too blue — she was enjoying a relaxing cruise around New York when the news broke. Her assistant, Theresa Mingus, posted a cute photo of the two of them lounging on Sunday.

Some Selena fans started the #SelenaIsFreeParty on Twitter.

The engagement has commenters bouncing between elation and total disbelief. “Finally. The royal wedding we have been hoping for,” one fan of Bieber and model Baldwin wrote. “Think they both need a little more growing up before jumping into marriage,” one skeptical commenter wrote.

Some aren’t so cynical: “I predict this marriage will last a long time and be full of love and joy. Heart,” said one happy supporter in response to the dozens of comments left anticipating the relationship would end quickly. “99% of the comments here are wishing a speedy end to their marriage. What is wrong with you?”
