The Denver-based company said it had profit of $1.88 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.73 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.61 per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $640.9 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $629.3 million.
