DENVER (AP) — DENVER (AP) — SM Energy Co. (SM) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $247.1 million.

The Denver-based company said it had net income of $2.12 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.56 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.39 per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $608.7 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $612.1 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $817.9 million, or $6.86 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.37 billion.
