On a per-share basis, the Bellevue, Washington-based company said it had a loss of 7 cents. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and amortization costs, were 34 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 18 cents per share.

The maker of a cloud-based work-management platform posted revenue of $256.9 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $255 million.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $104.6 million, or 78 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $958.3 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Smartsheet expects its per-share earnings to range from 26 cents to 27 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $257 million to $259 million for the fiscal first quarter.

Smartsheet expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.06 to $1.13 per share, with revenue ranging from $1.11 billion to $1.12 billion.
