Gangster rapper Snoop Dogg appears to be making a bid for the position of Twitter CEO -- according to his tweets anyway.

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo stepped down on Thursday after the company has struggled in recent times to expand its user base and grow revenue. Co-founder Jack Dorsey will take up the position on an interim basis.

But the "Gin and Juice" singer threw his hat into the ring, tweeting using the hashtags #SnoopforCEO.

The Doggfather followed up early on Friday with this tweet.

Fans - including Box CEO Aaron Levie - backed his bid, sharing their suggestions on what a Twitter under Snoop Dogg would look like -- including changes to the microblogging site's bird icon.

After a retweeting frenzie, Chris Sacca, an investor in Twitter, retweeted Snoop and received a call to action from the rapper.
