LAKE FOREST, Calif. (AP) — LAKE FOREST, Calif. (AP) — Staar Surgical Co. (STAA) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $4.8 million.

The Lake Forest, California-based company said it had net income of 10 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and non-recurring costs, were 30 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 20 cents per share.

The maker of implantable lenses posted revenue of $80.3 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $80.6 million.
