SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Sunrun Inc. (RUN) on Wednesday reported a third-quarter loss of $2.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 2 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 34 cents per share.

The solar energy products distributor posted revenue of $205 million in the period.

Sunrun shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $13.19, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
