Teradyne: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

NORTH READING, Mass. (AP) _ Teradyne Inc. (TER) on Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $135.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the North Reading, Massachusetts-based company said it had net income of 75 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 77 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.

The maker of wireless products, data storage and equipment to test semiconductors posted revenue of $582 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $567.9 million.

For the current quarter ending in December, Teradyne expects its per-share earnings to range from 73 cents to 84 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $590 million to $630 million for the fiscal fourth quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $532.2 million.

Teradyne shares have climbed 88% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $59.15, an increase of 83% in the last 12 months.
