Third quarter profit for Colombia's Ecopetrol falls 47%

BOGOTA, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Colombia's majority state-owned oil firm Ecopetrol on Tuesday posted a 47% drop in its third-quarter net profit, compared to profits in the year-ago period, following a first-half of the year dragged down by lower crude prices.

The oil company which produces the bulk of Colombia's oil, a key national export, reported a 5.09 trillion peso net profit during the July-to-September period. (Reporting by Sarah Morland; Editing by David Alire Garcia)
